Hi! I’m a 19 year old freelance digital illustrator. My work centers around concept art and character design taking influences from Japanese animation, Korean manhwa, and Western cartoons. Strong shading, soft lighting, and cool pastel colors are found in the shading of my character work. I’m half Japanese and White, and I incorporate various influences from both sides of my cultures into my work. Additionally, I portray my love for fashion, various styles, and subcultures into my designs, such as early 2000’s aesthetics.

While I'm proficient in a variety of Adobe programs, my platform of choice when drawing is Procreate. Additionally, I enjoy sketching on paper and occasionally doing ink drawings. But since I am primarily a digital artist, I find myself using Procreate paired with my Apple Pencil and iPad Pro to be my preferred materials. When starting  a piece, I begin with rough sketches before doing lineart and flat colors. Then, I start the rendering process, where I use various blending modes to add shading and soft lighting, as well as finalizing details.

One of my greatest influences when it comes to shading style and character design is the artist Aidairo, who created the series “Jibaku Shounen Hanako Kun.” Their choices in bold, opposing colors to create a unique environment inspires me. I find my vision reflected in character designs in Japanese comics and animation, as well as the dynamic nature of character silhouettes and facial expressions found in Western animation. I consume a variety of animated and illustrative media to fuel my creative process.

Overall, I enjoy utilizing imagery from pop culture to stimulate my own character work, pulling from a mixture of Japanese styles and Western animation styles. I hope to inspire young artists and other biracial people, exploring the societal impacts that can be made through fusion of cultures.
